RYZA species care

Black Zebra

Armadillidium maculatum

A black-and-white banded Armadillidium that breeds steadily once a humidity gradient is established.

Care notes

Armadillidium maculatum does best with a humidity gradient rather than uniform dampness — keep roughly a third of the enclosure moist with sphagnum moss and leave the rest as drier leaf litter. It tolerates normal room temperature without supplemental heat and is considered one of the more forgiving maculatum-adjacent species for newer keepers, breeding reliably once settled. Provide crushed eggshell or cuttlebone for clean molts.
