Armadillo officinalis "Orange Crush" is a distinct genus from Armadillidium — the "hissing isopod," making a soft rasping sound by rubbing its legs against its exoskeleton when startled. Keep a standard moisture gradient and avoid letting the enclosure dry out fully; this species is more sensitive to arid conditions than most Mediterranean isopods despite tolerating room temperature well. Good calcium access supports its larger, harder exoskeleton.
