Lilac Springtail

Ceratophysella sp.

A violet-tinted Ceratophysella springtail, larger and more robust than standard Folsomia candida — the same line as Yellow.

Care notes

Lilac springtails (Ceratophysella sp., sometimes identified as C. isabellae) are larger and more robust than standard Folsomia candida, with a visible violet tint under magnification. They favor damp, detritus-rich spots — moist moss or leaf litter — and tolerate higher humidity and warmer temperatures than most springtails, roughly 68–78°F. Hearty reproducers once established; supplement with a light dusting of spirulina, yeast, or crushed flake food in the moist zone.
