RYZA species care

Soil

Cubaris sp.

A wide, flat-bodied Cubaris — one of the more accessible species in the genus.

Care notes

Cubaris sp. "Soil" is among the more forgiving Cubaris species, similar in accessibility to White Shark. Give it a deep, moisture-retaining organic substrate to burrow into, plenty of leaf litter, good ventilation, and a permanent calcium source (limestone or cuttlebone). Not to be confused with Trichorhina tomentosa "Dwarf White" — Soil isopods are a larger, flat-bodied Cubaris that reproduce sexually rather than parthenogenetically.
