Temperate Springtail

Folsomia candida

A hardy springtail culture that works as a mold-control cleanup crew in any bioactive setup.

Care notes

Temperate springtails (commonly Folsomia candida, sold under both "temperate" and "tropical" names in the hobby) do best on a damp charcoal or coco-coir substrate with a small pinch of yeast every few days. They thrive at standard room temperature and dont need supplemental heat. Avoid overfeeding — excess food invites mold and mite problems.
