RYZA species care

Hoffmannseggi "Sevilla"

Porcellio hoffmannseggi

A large, active Spanish Porcellio, more visible in the enclosure than most giant Porcellio species.

Care notes

Porcellio hoffmannseggii "Sevilla" (previously traded as an undescribed Porcellio sp. before being confirmed as this species in 2024) is one of the larger Porcellio in the hobby. Keep it drier than a typical isopod setup — roughly one-third of the enclosure lightly moist, the rest dry with strong airflow — since over-misting and stagnant air are the most common ways this species colonies stall. Its size and pace make it a poor feeder-insect choice, but a good display species.
